SHRUNKEN HEADS

Cinemavixion Review

Richard Elfman's "Shrunken Heads" from 1994 plunges into a unique blend of horror and dark comedy, following the vengeful resurrection of three murdered children via their shrunken heads. The film, penned by Charles Band and Matthew Bright, stars Julius Harris, Meg Foster, and Aeryk Egan, who deliver performances fitting the bizarre premise. While the plot centers on the heads seeking retribution, it also explores the unexpected complications that arise, particularly between one of the reanimated heads and his former girlfriend. Though it garnered a nomination, its reception, as reflected in its IMDb rating of 5.0, suggests a divisive, cult appeal. "Shrunken Heads" offers a peculiar and often unsettling cinematic experience, characteristic of Elfman's distinctive directorial style, making it a noteworthy, albeit unconventional, entry in the horror genre.
