SHOTGUN SLADE: A FLOWER FOR JENNY

Cinemavixion Review

Frank Gruber's 1959 neo-noir, 'Shotgun Slade: A Flower For Jenny,' plunges viewers into the shadowy underbelly of Deadwood. The narrative centers on the enigmatic Jenny Duprey, a woman whose arrival is as fraught with peril as it is with allure. Haunted by a past murder attempt and shrouded in scandal, Jenny seeks the protection of the astute detective Slade. As Slade navigates Jenny's complicated history, he unearths a web of deceit spun by jilted lovers, embittered former partners, and individuals hiding behind false pretenses. The revelation that Jenny's ex-husband is the very saloon owner who welcomed her, Mr. Krueger, adds another layer of intrigue. Amidst escalating tensions and palpable danger, the true antagonist emerges: Eddie Howard, Jenny's spurned accompanist. Yet, even as Jenny's prominence fades, a new contender, Monica Bristol, steps into the spotlight, embodying the resilience of Deadwood, where life and performance continue undeterred by betrayal.
