SHOTGUN

Cinemavixion Review

Lesley Selander's 1955 Western, 'Shotgun,' offers a compelling narrative driven by vengeance and duty. Sterling Hayden embodies Deputy Marshal Clay Hardin with a stoic resolve, wrestling with a career change only to be pulled back into the fray by the violent demise of Marshal Fletcher at the hands of Ben Thompson. The film excels in its depiction of Hardin's unwavering pursuit, a journey that takes him through rugged landscapes and into perilous negotiations with Apache tribes. The supporting cast, including Yvonne De Carlo and Zachary Scott, adds depth to this tale of frontier justice. 'Shotgun' is a solid entry in the Western genre, exploring themes of loyalty and the harsh realities of law enforcement in the Old West.
