SHORTCUT

Cinemavixion Review

Alessio Liguori's "Shortcut" plunges audiences into a primal fear scenario, where a wrong turn on a desolate road unleashes a terrifying, unseen entity upon a group of unsuspecting teenagers. The film masterfully builds suspense, leveraging the isolation of the wilderness to amplify the characters' vulnerability. While the creature's design and the narrative's reliance on familiar horror tropes might not break new ground, the execution is commendable. The performances from Jack Kane, Zanda Emlano, and Zak Sutcliffe effectively convey the mounting terror and desperation. Despite a mixed reception, with a 4.1 rating on IMDb and a 60% score on Rotten Tomatoes, "Shortcut" offers a tense and atmospheric ride for fans of creature features and survival horror, proving that sometimes the most frightening journeys are the ones taken off the beaten path.
