SHARKPROOF
Cinemavixion Review
In the 2014 bromantic comedy "Sharkproof," directors Simon Chan and Joe Rubalcaba present a tale of two down-on-their-luck friends, Vince (Cameron Van Hoy) and Freddy (Michael Drayer), who hatch a plan to get rich with "Sharkproof" wetsuits. Their quest for funding leads them to the seedy downtown LA club owned by loan shark Max, played with characteristic flair by Jon Lovitz. The plot thickens when both Vince and Freddy fall for Isabella (Kinga Kierzek), a performer in a knife-throwing act with her volatile partner, Yuri (Ken Davitian). As their venture attracts the wrong kind of attention from Max, the protagonists find themselves in a desperate situation where they must rise to the occasion. While the film garners a modest 5.2 from IMDb, its blend of entrepreneurial ambition, romantic rivalry, and comedic peril offers a lighthearted, if somewhat predictable, cinematic romp.
