SHADOWS IN THE SUN

Cinemavixion Review

"Shadows in the Sun" offers a picturesque escape to the Italian countryside, a gentle antidote to the cynicism of modern life. The film, directed by Brad Mirman, stars Joshua Jackson as a driven London book editor sent to coax a reclusive literary giant, played with seasoned gruffness by Harvey Keitel, out of his creative silence. While the professional mission provides the narrative thrust, the film truly blossoms as Jeremy (Jackson) finds himself drawn into the orbit of the author's world, particularly through his burgeoning romance with Isabella and the serene beauty of Tuscany. Claire Forlani adds a luminous presence as Isabella, anchoring the romantic subplot. With its stunning visuals and a thoughtful exploration of slowing down to appreciate life's simple pleasures, "Shadows in the Sun" is a charming, feel-good drama that resonates with a quiet warmth, despite its 43% Rotten Tomatoes score suggesting a mixed critical reception.
