SEX, BIKES & ROCK AND ROLL

Cinemavixion Review

"Sex, Bikes & Rock and Roll" offers a raw and immersive dive into the pulsating underground of Rio de Janeiro, vividly rendered through a lens reminiscent of "Blade Runner." This documentary captures a unique ecosystem where motorcycle clubs, dive bars, and concert venues become the backdrop for a diverse cast of characters – rock enthusiasts, punks, headbangers, and sex workers – coexisting in a surprisingly harmonious, albeit gritty, urban tapestry. Directed by Santiago Miquelino and featuring Marcelo D2, the film, released in 2021, successfully portrays a subculture often overlooked, presenting a compelling narrative of life on the fringes. Its strength lies in its unflinching portrayal of this vibrant scene, making it a noteworthy exploration for those interested in counter-culture and urban narratives.
