SERPENT ISLAND

Cinemavixion Review

Tom Gries's "Serpent Island" plunges viewers into a treasure hunt brimming with exotic peril. The narrative follows Rosalind Hayes, an unassuming secretary, as she embarks on a quest for ancestral riches, joined by a resourceful engineer played by Sonny Tufts and the dubious Captain Monroe. Their journey to a remote island near Haiti, however, quickly devolves into a thrilling encounter with a mysterious voodoo cult and a formidable boa constrictor guarding the hoard. While the film may not boast extensive accolades, its pulpy adventure narrative and intriguing premise offer a diverting cinematic experience. The production effectively captures the sense of danger and mystery inherent in its tropical setting, making for an engaging, if somewhat quaint, B-movie escapade.
