SCALPS

Cinemavixion Review

Claudio Fragasso's 'Scalps' plunges viewers into the brutal landscape of the Civil War, offering a gritty tale of revenge and unlikely alliances. The narrative centers on a Native American woman, abducted by vengeful Confederate soldiers after her tribe is massacred. Her escape leads her to a reclusive rancher, a man whose animosity towards Southerners rivals his prejudice against Native Americans. This shared hatred ignites a potent, albeit uneasy, partnership as they conspire to exact retribution. The film navigates themes of cultural conflict, survival, and the moral ambiguities born from extreme violence. While the plot unfolds with a relentless drive towards vengeance, it is the complex dynamic between the two protagonists, forced to overcome their deep-seated differences, that forms the emotional core of this visceral Western.
