SAVANNAH SMILES

Cinemavixion Review

"Savannah Smiles" emerges as a surprisingly poignant family film from 1982, chronicling the unexpected bond formed between a neglected politician's daughter and two hapless fugitives. Director Pierre De Moro masterfully navigates the delicate balance between comedy and drama, allowing the audience to witness the gradual transformation of Alvie (Mark Miller) and Boots (Donovan Scott) from opportunistic criminals into genuine parental figures for the spirited Savannah, played with remarkable depth by Bridgette Andersen. The film's narrative, while centering on a child's escape, delves into themes of found family and the redemptive power of connection. Despite its low-key release, the movie garnered a respectable IMDb rating of 7.1, hinting at a heartwarming story that resonates with viewers, proving that compelling character development can often outweigh blockbuster spectacle. This is a charming piece of cinema that champions the idea that love can blossom in the most unconventional circumstances.
