SAUDI ARABIA: GENUINE REFORM OR JUST ROYAL PR?

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a compelling glimpse into contemporary Saudi Arabia, a nation ostensibly undergoing significant transformation under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. The narrative focuses on the perceived sweeping reforms, including the newfound rights for women to drive and the ambitious push to open up historical sites for tourism. Through the perspectives of young Saudis, trailblazing women like Abir and Farah, and even satirical animators such as Malik, the film navigates the intricate balance between a drive for modernization and deeply entrenched conservative traditions. It candidly addresses the inherent challenges and aspirations as the country confronts its future, posing a critical question: is Saudi Arabia genuinely prepared for a new era, or are these changes merely a carefully curated public relations effort?
