Cinemavixion Review

"Ryoma! The Prince of Tennis" is a vibrant animated feature that boldly reimagines the beloved manga series with a unique time-traveling twist. Directed by Hiroshi Kôjina, the film plunges Ryoma Echizen and his classmate Sakuno into the past, forcing them to witness and interact with the legendary matches of Ryoma's father, Nanjirou. This narrative device injects a fresh perspective into the familiar world of high school tennis, exploring themes of legacy and destiny. The animation is dynamic, particularly during the intense tennis sequences, which are choreographed with flair and energy. While the plot's leap through time might be a departure for long-time fans, it serves to deepen the characters' motivations and relationships. The voice cast, including Ry McKeand and Xanthe Huynh, delivers performances that capture the spirit of the characters. Although the film garnered a respectable 6.2 rating on IMDb, its musical elements and adventurous plot make it a noteworthy entry for fans of sports anime and those seeking a new take on a classic story. It's a compelling watch that balances thrilling action with heartfelt character moments, offering a novel experience within the "Prince of Tennis" universe.
