RX

Cinemavixion Review

Ariel Vromen's 2005 debut, "Rx," offers a gritty, yet stylish exploration of youthful indiscretion and its dire consequences. The film follows three friends whose celebratory road trip across the border takes a sharp, terrifying turn, forcing them into a perilous entanglement with a drug cartel. Vromen, who also co-wrote the script, crafts a visually striking narrative that delves into the darker side of impulsive decisions made under the guise of friendship and love. The plot, while familiar in its cautionary tale structure, is elevated by its atmospheric direction and a soundtrack that imbues the coming-of-age drama with a contemporary edge. "Rx" serves as a compelling, albeit somber, reminder of how quickly life can change when ethical boundaries are tested, making it a noteworthy entry for those drawn to thrillers with emotional depth and a strong sense of place.
