RUSTLERS ON HORSEBACK

Cinemavixion Review

Fred C. Brannon's 'Rustlers on Horseback' delivers a classic Western narrative, weaving a tale of deception and justice in the rugged frontier. The plot intricately follows Marshal Rocky Lane as he goes undercover to dismantle a sophisticated outlaw operation led by George Parradine, a seemingly innocuous book salesman. The film excels in its portrayal of dual identities, particularly with Jack Reynolds, the vengeful son seeking to avenge his father's murder, and the cunning Marshal Lane navigating the dangerous underbelly of Sloan Junction. Allan Lane, alongside Black Jack and Eddy Waller, anchors the film with performances that embody the grit and moral ambiguity of the era. While the narrative might tread familiar Western ground, its execution is solid, offering suspense and a satisfying resolution that fans of the genre will appreciate. The film stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of straightforward, action-packed Westerns.
