RUNNING TARGET

Cinemavixion Review

Marvin R. Weinstein's "Running Target" plunges viewers into the stark beauty and unforgiving terrain of the Colorado Rockies, presenting a tense cat-and-mouse narrative. The film centers on Sheriff Scott, a man burdened by his duty to apprehend escaped convicts, yet deeply conflicted about the use of lethal force. His pursuit is complicated by the presence of Jaynes, a sharpshooter with a penchant for his telescopic rifle, and "Smitty," a resourceful woman with a personal vendetta against the convict leader, Kaygo. The interplay between Scott's moral compass and Smitty's underlying motives adds a layer of intrigue to this classic Western thriller. Doris Dowling, Arthur Franz, and Richard Reeves deliver solid performances, anchoring the dramatic tension as the posse closes in on its quarry. "Running Target" is a compelling exploration of duty, justice, and the shadows that drive human action.
