RULERS OF THE CITY

Cinemavixion Review

Fernando Di Leo's "Rulers of the City" plunges viewers into the gritty underworld of 1970s Italy, a landscape rife with criminal chaos. This crime thriller, starring the formidable Jack Palance alongside Al Cliver and Harry Baer, masterfully depicts a police commissioner's audacious plan to combat rampant gang activity. Di Leo crafts a narrative fueled by a raw, visceral energy, showcasing a highly trained unit of motorcycle cops tasked with restoring order. The film's strength lies in its unflinching portrayal of urban decay and the desperate measures taken by law enforcement. While the external data suggests a plot focusing on mob loan collectors, the core essence of a violent struggle for control within the city remains consistent, making this a compelling watch for fans of Italian crime cinema.
