ROSIE

Cinemavixion Review

Paddy Breathnach's 'Rosie' is a starkly poignant portrayal of a family's struggle against the unforgiving realities of homelessness in Ireland. Anchored by a powerhouse performance from Sarah Greene as the titular mother, the film navigates the emotional and logistical labyrinth of displacement with a palpable sense of urgency. Greene masterfully conveys Rosie's fierce maternal instinct, her quiet desperation, and her unwavering resolve to shield her children from the harshness of their circumstances. The narrative, co-written by Roddy Doyle, eschews melodrama for a grounded, vérité style that amplifies the authenticity of the crisis. Despite its weighty subject matter, the film is imbued with moments of resilience and familial love, making it a deeply affecting and important cinematic experience that garnered significant critical acclaim, including a commendable 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.
