ROSA PARKS: A GLOBAL ICON WHO STOOD UP TO TYRANNY | CIVIL RIGHTS DOCUMENTARY

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the profound impact of Rosa Parks, a figure whose quiet defiance ignited a global civil rights movement. Through a detailed account of her arrest on December 1, 1955, for refusing to yield her bus seat, the film illuminates the systemic injustice of segregation in Montgomery. It chronicles the subsequent bus boycott, a remarkable display of solidarity that saw over 30,000 Black riders participate, crippling the city's transit system and ultimately leading to the Supreme Court's ruling that outlawed segregated seating. The narrative highlights Parks's pivotal role, recognizing her as "the first lady of civil rights" and detailing her numerous accolades, including the Spingarn Medal and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Nonviolent Peace Prize. The film serves as a powerful reminder of how individual courage can catalyze monumental social change.
