ROOTING FOR THE ROMANS

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the fascinating discovery of Roman ruins within Cambridgeshire's Bedford Purlieus Wood. The narrative follows Tony and his team as they meticulously investigate unearthed building foundations, guided by an initial spotting of Roman artifacts in the forest. Despite the challenging woodland terrain, which impedes standard geophysical surveys and visual coordination, the team perseveres. Their efforts reveal substantial structures, intricate artifacts, and hints of a sophisticated settlement, potentially including a bath-house. The investigation ultimately pieces together a compelling story of Roman industrial and trade activities in the region, offering a glimpse into a previously hidden chapter of local history.
