ROME HAS FALLEN: ITALY'S CALAMITOUS CAMPAIGN IN WW2

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the catastrophic Italian military campaign during World War II, initiated by Benito Mussolini in 1940. Driven by aspirations of empire and alliance with Hitler, Italy's entry into the war quickly devolved into a series of defeats and heavy casualties across multiple fronts, despite numerical advantages. The film critically examines how these grand ambitions became a significant liability for the Axis war effort, exploring the strategic blunders and operational shortcomings that defined Italy's wartime experience. It offers a compelling look at the gap between Mussolini's imperial dreams and the harsh realities faced by Italian forces, ultimately questioning the wisdom and execution of this fateful decision.
