Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the compelling saga of Rollo, a figure who transcended his origins as a Viking warrior to forge a kingdom. The narrative meticulously traces his evolution from a feared raider, whose infamous siege of Paris underscored his strategic brilliance, to a shrewd statesman. The pivotal Treaty of Saint-Clair-sur-Epte in 911 is presented as a masterstroke, where Rollo exchanged coastal plunder for sovereignty over a significant territory in what would become Normandy. His agreement to defend this nascent kingdom against further Viking incursions highlights a complex transition from destroyer to protector. The film effectively captures the turbulent spirit of the Dark Ages, portraying Rollo's ambition and resilience as instrumental in his remarkable rise to become the first King of Normandy, a testament to his enduring legacy.
