ROGUE OF THE RANGE

Cinemavixion Review

S. Roy Luby's "Rogue of the Range" (1936) plunges viewers into a classic Western narrative of subterfuge and loyalty. The film masterfully weaves a tale of U.S. Marshal Dan Doran, who orchestrates his own incarceration to infiltrate a notorious outlaw gang. Johnny Mack Brown delivers a compelling performance as Doran, navigating the treacherous line between lawman and criminal. The plot, centered on a deceptive scheme involving the gang leader Mitchell and the seemingly upright Sheriff, keeps audiences engaged with its twists and turns. Supported by Lois January and Stephen Chase, the ensemble cast brings to life a story that explores the complexities of undercover operations in the untamed West. This B-movie gem offers a satisfying blend of action and intrigue, a testament to the enduring appeal of Western storytelling.
