ROBBERY UNDER ARMS

Cinemavixion Review

Jack Lee's "Robbery Under Arms" transports viewers to the rugged Australian landscape of the 1860s, chronicling the descent of the Marston brothers into a life of bushranging under the charismatic, yet dangerous, Captain Starlight. The film masterfully balances thrilling action with the compelling drama of familial obligation and the allure of outlawry. Peter Finch delivers a commanding performance as the notorious Captain, anchoring the narrative with his formidable presence. The supporting cast, including Ronald Lewis and David McCallum as the Marston brothers, effectively portray the moral complexities and romantic entanglements that define their journey. While the film offers a glimpse into a romanticized era of Australian folklore, it also serves as a cautionary tale about the consequences of choices made in the pursuit of freedom and fortune. Its portrayal of adventure and its exploration of character make it a noteworthy entry in the genre.
