RISE UP BLACK MAN

Cinemavixion Review

Kendall Irvin's 2013 drama, "Rise Up Black Man," offers a poignant exploration of friendship, societal pressures, and the difficult choices that define one's path. The film centers on two college graduates navigating the complexities of early adulthood and the search for purpose. One friend is drawn into a web of corruption, manipulated by a charismatic minister whose influence paradoxically oppresses his own community. Meanwhile, the other grapples with personal struggles of a different, yet equally challenging, nature. Through their individual journeys and shared experiences, the narrative compellingly depicts their struggle to "Rise Up" and uphold their moral compass in the face of adversity. While specific critical reception and box office data are not readily available, the film's earnest portrayal of its themes makes it a noteworthy piece for those interested in character-driven dramas that delve into social and personal conflicts.
