RISE OF THE ZOMBIES

Cinemavixion Review

Nick Lyon's "Rise of the Zombies" plunges viewers into a grim post-apocalyptic landscape where San Francisco has fallen victim to a relentless zombie outbreak. The film follows a desperate band of survivors who seek refuge within the imposing walls of Alcatraz Prison. However, their sanctuary proves temporary as the undead breach the island, forcing a perilous return to the mainland, now a desolate wasteland crawling with the infected. While the premise echoes familiar zombie tropes, the film aims to deliver a tense survival narrative, bolstered by a cast including Danny Trejo, Mariel Hemingway, Ethan Suplee, and LeVar Burton. The external data notes the film received one nomination, though specific details are scarce. Despite a modest reception according to IMDb ratings, "Rise of the Zombies" offers a gritty exploration of humanity's struggle against overwhelming odds in a world overrun by the dead, potentially appealing to fans of the genre seeking a straightforward, action-oriented zombie tale.
