RISE OF THE ZOMBIES

Cinemavixion Review

Nick Lyon's "Rise of the Zombies" plunges viewers into a desperate struggle for survival amidst a San Francisco overrun by the undead. The film's premise centers on a group of survivors seeking refuge on the seemingly impenetrable Alcatraz Island, only to find their sanctuary compromised. The narrative escalates as they are forced to confront the mainland's zombie-infested landscape in search of a potential cure, a plot point enriched by OMDb's detail of a scientist's discovery. While the film may not boast the polish of larger-budget zombie epics, it delivers a commendable B-movie experience, driven by its straightforward action and the compelling presence of actors like Mariel Hemingway and LeVar Burton. Its modest IMDb rating of 3.6 suggests a niche appeal, but for fans of the genre seeking a contained, high-stakes narrative, "Rise of the Zombies" offers a serviceable and engaging post-apocalyptic adventure.
