RIMFIRE

Cinemavixion Review

B. Reeves Eason's 1949 Western, 'Rimfire,' offers a compelling blend of mystery and frontier justice. James Millican delivers a strong performance as Captain Tom Harvey, an undercover army officer tasked with investigating a series of gold thefts plaguing a remote town. Harvey assumes the role of deputy, immersing himself in a community gripped by fear, convinced that the perpetrator is the vengeful ghost of a wrongly accused gambler. The narrative skillfully weaves suspense as Harvey navigates the dual challenges of unmasking the real thief and confronting the town's superstitious dread. With its taut pacing and intriguing premise, 'Rimfire' stands as a solid entry in the Western genre, exploring themes of truth, perception, and the lingering shadows of injustice.
