REWIND

Cinemavixion Review

Sasha Joseph Neulinger's directorial debut, "Rewind," is a profoundly moving and courageous documentary that masterfully weaves together personal history with a universal narrative of trauma and resilience. By delving into his father's extensive home video archive, Neulinger constructs a powerful, albeit harrowing, account of his own childhood. The film unflinchingly exposes cycles of abuse, demonstrating how deeply ingrained pain can be passed down through generations. The integration of home movie footage with Neulinger's present-day reflections creates an intimate and raw viewing experience. The critical acclaim, including a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes and a strong showing on Metacritic, underscores the film's significant impact. "Rewind" is not merely a personal excavation but a vital testament to the possibility of breaking these cycles and finding a path toward healing.
