REVOLUTION 1917

Cinemavixion Review

Yuriy Vasilev's 'Revolution 1917' presents a poignant narrative centered on Andrey's journey to Paris. His pilgrimage to honor his great-grandfather, a former officer in the White Army, takes an unexpected turn when he encounters a striking resemblance to a young woman on a nearby headstone. This hauntingly familiar face reappears, weaving a thread of mystery and perhaps destiny through Andrey's experience. The film delves into themes of memory, lineage, and the lingering echoes of history, as Andrey grapples with the past and the spectral presence that seems to connect him to it. The subtle performances, particularly from Aleksandr Adabashyan, Aleksandr Baluev, and Marat Basharov, anchor the emotional weight of Andrey's introspective quest.
