RESCUING REX - THE REMARKABLE JOURNEY OF STRAY DOGS TO FIND FREEDOM - FULL DOCUMENTARY

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary, "Rescuing Rex - The Remarkable Journey of Stray Dogs to Find Freedom," offers a deeply moving and often harrowing look into the world of animal rescue. It chronicles the arduous journeys of stray dogs from the United States and Asia as they embark on a "freedom ride" to Canada. The film introduces us to unforgettable characters like Nigel, who overcomes his fear; Murphy, a Doberman saved from euthanasia; and Jagger, a dog whose soulful gaze speaks volumes. We also meet the dedicated individuals behind these rescues, such as Mary, who cares for an astounding 150 dogs in Taiwan, and Tara, a rescuer from Texas who finds new hope for dogs in Toronto. Tara's poignant observation, "One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. That’s how Canada sees our dogs," highlights the stark realities and differing perspectives surrounding these animals. However, "Rescuing Rex" does not shy away from the darker aspects of this field, exposing how a lack of regulation allows unscrupulous individuals to exploit public compassion for financial gain. At its core, the film is a powerful testament to our shared humanity and the profound desire to make a difference, one rescued dog at a time. It is an essential viewing for anyone who has ever loved a dog, or indeed, anyone with a heart.
