RELISH

Cinemavixion Review

In "Relish," director Justin Isaac Ward crafts a compelling coming-of-age narrative that cleverly updates the "Breakfast Club" archetype for a contemporary audience. The film follows five disparate teenagers, including a compelling transgender protagonist, who orchestrate a daring escape from a private treatment facility. What ensues is a transformative road trip, a journey punctuated by shared experiences and unexpected bonds. As these young outcasts navigate the open road, they begin to shed their individual labels and discover a profound sense of solidarity. "Relish" is a poignant exploration of identity, acceptance, and the universal search for belonging, bolstered by strong performances and a script that balances humor with heartfelt drama. The film has garnered recognition with 21 wins and 21 nominations, underscoring its impact on the festival circuit and among critics.
