REHABILITATION ROULETTE: WHY SOME EX-CONS NEVER CHANGE

Cinemavixion Review

This powerful documentary plunges into the complex and often fraught world of probation, offering an unflinching look at the challenges faced by both former inmates and the officers tasked with their supervision. We are introduced to individuals like Stevie, a man with a decades-long criminal history, and David, a sex offender, both grappling with the stringent conditions of their parole. The film vividly portrays the immense pressure on probation officers, such as Verity, who navigate overwhelming caseloads and limited resources while making critical decisions that can alter lives. Through their stories, 'Rehabilitation Roulette: Why Some Ex-Cons Never Change' delves into the raw human struggles of those caught between past transgressions and the arduous pursuit of a reformed future. It poses profound questions about the efficacy of rehabilitation, the societal structures in place, and the true cost of freedom when it is perpetually shadowed by the threat of re-incarceration.
