PROJECT KILL

Cinemavixion Review

William Girdler's 1976 film 'PROJECT KILL' plunges viewers into a thrilling narrative of espionage and personal struggle. Set against the vibrant backdrop of the Philippines, the story follows a former government assassin, portrayed with a surprising gravitas by Leslie Nielsen, as he attempts to break free from a sinister mind-control program. The plot thickens with the introduction of his relentless ex-partner, local law enforcement, and shadowy Asian gangsters, creating a multi-faceted pursuit. Girdler masterfully crafts a tense atmosphere, exploring themes of addiction and identity as the protagonist battles not only external forces but also the debilitating withdrawal from the experimental drugs. The film's blend of action and psychological drama, anchored by a solid cast including Gary Lockwood and Nancy Kwan, offers a compelling, albeit gritty, cinematic experience that resonates with its exploration of control and liberation.
