Nando Cicero's 'Professionals for a Massacre,' also known as 'Any Gun Can Play,' plunges viewers into the heart of the American Civil War's twilight. The narrative centers on three Confederate soldiers—Steel Downey, an explosives expert; Chattanooga Jim, a lone gunman; and Fidel Ramirez, a skilled horse thief—each facing a death sentence for trading stolen army provisions. Their reprieve arrives in the form of a dangerous mission: a covert operation into Mexico to recover a stolen shipment of gold, vital for the Confederacy's dwindling war chest. This gold was pilfered by the renegade Major Lloyd, who has absconded south of the border. The film follows this motley crew as they navigate hostile Mexican territory, evading bandits and enemy patrols, all under the watchful eye of Lieutenant Logan, whose duty is to ensure the mission's success.
