POWDERKEG

Cinemavixion Review

In "Powderkeg," director Douglas Heyes crafts a thrilling adventure set against the turbulent backdrop of pre-World War I Mexico. Rod Taylor leads a compelling cast as one of two adventurers tasked with a perilous mission: reclaiming a hijacked train. The narrative plunges viewers into a world of espionage and high-stakes action, exploring themes of loyalty and survival amidst political unrest. Taylor's performance anchors the film, embodying the rugged determination required for such a dangerous undertaking. The supporting cast, including Dennis Cole and Fernando Lamas, provide strong counterpoints, adding depth to the unfolding drama. While the film's visual style may reflect its 1971 origins, the core story of daring escapades and the fight for control remains engaging, offering a potent dose of classic adventure filmmaking.
