Mark L. Lester's "Poseidon Rex" plunges viewers into the murky depths off the coast of Belize, offering a creature feature that leans heavily into its B-movie roots. The film pits a band of treasure hunters, led by the resourceful Jackson Slate (Brian Krause), against a colossal, T-Rex-like marine reptile awakened from its ancient slumber. As Slate and his team, which includes marine biologist Sarah Jones (Anne McDaniels), navigate treacherous waters to secure a Mayan treasure, they find themselves hunted by the titular Poseidon Rex. While the plot may tread familiar ground, the film delivers on its promise of action and suspense, with the creature providing a formidable, albeit CGI-enhanced, antagonist.
