PINOCCHIO | PART 1

Cinemavixion Review

This 2009 Italian production, directed by Alberto Sironi, offers a profound reinterpretation of the classic "Pinocchio" tale. Moving beyond a simple children's story, it delves into the complex, often fraught, relationship between a father and son. The narrative masterfully uses the metaphor of a marionette's journey to becoming a child as a vehicle to explore themes of growth, learning, and the very essence of life. Bob Hoskins and Thomas Sangster anchor the film with performances that capture both the innocence and the burgeoning humanity of their characters. It's a visually rich and emotionally resonant exploration of what it truly means to become a family, presented with a modern, ironic, yet deeply touching sensibility.
