PINES

Cinemavixion Review

Una Blade's "Pines" plunges viewers into a chilling narrative of desperation and psychological unraveling. Claire, portrayed with a palpable sense of unease, navigates the grim realities of hospice care before her world is shattered by the disappearance of her boyfriend, Jack. The film masterfully transitions from a personal crisis to a harrowing ordeal as Claire ventures into the unforgiving wilderness, seeking answers that lead her into the clutches of sinister backwoods denizens and forces beyond her comprehension. With a runtime of 75 minutes, the film offers a concise yet potent descent into paranoia, where the harsh landscape mirrors Claire's fracturing psyche. Michael Parks and Lin Shaye lend their seasoned gravitas to the supporting cast, grounding the escalating terror in a disquieting reality. "Pines" is a stark exploration of how external threats can expose internal vulnerabilities, leaving audiences questioning the very nature of reality.
