PERMANENT MIDNIGHT

Cinemavixion Review

"Permanent Midnight" offers a raw and unflinching look into the chaotic life of a comedy writer battling severe addiction. Ben Stiller delivers a performance of remarkable depth, portraying the internal conflict and self-destructive tendencies with a compelling blend of dark humor and pathos. Directed by David Veloz, the film navigates the treacherous terrain of substance abuse, using vivid, often surreal, imagery to convey the protagonist's fractured reality. While the narrative occasionally veers into the grotesque, it remains anchored by Stiller's committed portrayal and a script that doesn't shy away from the devastating consequences of addiction. The film's exploration of creativity intertwined with personal demons makes for a thought-provoking, albeit challenging, cinematic experience, earning its place as a notable, if niche, drama.
