PAY THE GHOST

Cinemavixion Review

Uli Edel's 'Pay the Ghost' plunges into the chilling territory of supernatural revenge, anchored by a committed performance from Nicolas Cage. The narrative centers on a father's desperate search for his abducted son on Halloween night, a quest that unearths a vengeful spirit tied to the city's past. While the film garnered a modest reception, with an IMDb rating of 5.2/10 and a sobering 10% on Rotten Tomatoes, its premise offers a compelling blend of familial grief and spectral horror. Cage, alongside Sarah Wayne Callies, navigates the escalating dread and supernatural encounters with a palpable intensity. Despite its critical shortcomings and minimal box office presence, 'Pay the Ghost' provides a serviceable horror experience for those drawn to ghost stories with a dark, urban setting and a ticking clock to save a child from eternal damnation.
