PART-TIME KILLER

Cinemavixion Review

In 'Part-Time Killer,' director BJ Turner III crafts a compelling narrative that resonates with contemporary anxieties surrounding economic precarity and the gig economy. The film centers on a trans woman whose struggle for financial stability leads her down an unexpectedly dangerous path after downloading a seemingly innocuous app. What begins as a means to an end quickly escalates when her new career as a contract assassin attracts the unwanted attention of a powerful criminal syndicate. The plot cleverly blends elements of action and dark comedy, offering a unique commentary on identity and survival in a hyper-connected, often unforgiving world. Val Turner's performance as the protagonist is nuanced, capturing the character's vulnerability and resilience. The film's exploration of its themes feels both timely and thought-provoking, making 'Part-Time Killer' a noteworthy addition to the independent cinema landscape.
