PALMDALE

Cinemavixion Review

Erich Kemp's 2014 neo-noir thriller, "Palmdale," plunges into the shadowy underbelly of a desolate city, introducing a mysterious drifter whose sole purpose is to execute contract killings. The film, starring the compelling performances of Olivia Preciado and Matt Callahan alongside Lackos, offers a gritty exploration of violence and redemption. Preciado's character, in particular, serves as an unexpected catalyst, forcing the hardened protagonist to confront his inner demons. While the narrative treads familiar ground in the crime genre, Kemp's direction imbues the story with a palpable sense of dread and a stark visual style that complements the bleak subject matter. The film garnered one nomination, hinting at its reception within certain circles, and its compact runtime of 78 minutes ensures a focused and intense viewing experience. "Palmdale" is a worthwhile watch for those drawn to atmospheric thrillers that delve into the complexities of a broken soul seeking a path away from darkness.
