OUT OF CONTROL

Cinemavixion Review

Allan Holzman's "Out of Control" plunges a group of recent high school graduates into a harrowing survival scenario that quickly escalates into a fight for their lives. What begins as a celebratory graduation trip aboard a seaplane quickly devolves into a nightmare when a crash strands the eight teens on a seemingly deserted island. The initial isolation, however, is soon overshadowed by the discovery that the island is a clandestine base for drug smugglers. Holzman masterfully ratchets up the tension, transforming the idyllic tropical setting into a claustrophobic arena of danger. The film effectively explores themes of youthful innocence confronting brutal reality, with the young cast delivering performances that convey both vulnerability and emerging resilience. While the narrative takes a sharp turn into thriller territory, it remains an engaging examination of how extreme circumstances can test the bonds of friendship and the will to survive.
