ORDINARY MAGIC

Cinemavixion Review

Giles Walker's "Ordinary Magic" offers a poignant coming-of-age narrative centered on Jeffrey Moore, a teenager navigating grief and cultural displacement. Ryan Reynolds delivers a compelling performance as Jeffrey, a young man transplanted from India to Canada after his father's death. The film sensitively explores themes of identity and belonging as Jeffrey grapples with the potential loss of his new home. Glenne Headly, as his aunt Charlotte, provides a grounding presence, while the supporting cast adds depth to this touching story. The narrative skillfully blends personal struggle with community action, as Jeffrey rallies his peers and neighbors against a developer threatening their way of life. "Ordinary Magic" is a thoughtful exploration of resilience and the unexpected places one can find home, resonating with a quiet power that lingers.
