OPERATION TORCH: THE DECISIVE INVASION THAT TURNED THE TIDE IN NORTH AFRICA

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the critical Operation Torch, the Allied invasion of North Africa in November 1942. Through detailed accounts, it illustrates the strategic importance of landings at Casablanca, Oran, and Algiers. The narrative effectively portrays the dual challenge faced by the Allied forces: overcoming Vichy French resistance and pushing back Rommel's formidable Afrika Korps. The film highlights how this pivotal campaign, despite being hampered by the severe Tunisian winter, successfully severed Axis supply lines and crucially secured a Mediterranean foothold, thereby reshaping the trajectory of World War II and paving the way for subsequent Allied successes. It's an insightful look at a lesser-known yet decisive theater of the war.
