Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the critical strategic importance of oil during World War II, focusing on the Allied campaign to cripple Hitler's war machine by targeting Germany's fuel reserves. It highlights the starkly different approaches to strategic bombing adopted by the US and British forces, ultimately leading to the ill-fated but consequential Operation Tidal Wave against the Ploesti oil fields in Romania. The narrative emphasizes how the eventual systematic destruction of Germany's synthetic oil production facilities proved to be a fatal blow to the Nazi regime. The film makes a compelling case for oil as the ultimate Achilles' heel of the Third Reich, exploring the complex planning, execution, and devastating impact of these vital air campaigns.
