OPERATION FORTITUDE: THE FAKE D-DAY THAT FOOLED HITLER

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the ingenious deception of Operation Fortitude, a masterstroke of psychological warfare conceived by Winston Churchill. The film vividly illustrates the creation of a phantom invasion force, complete with inflatable tanks, decoy ships, and fabricated troop movements, all meticulously designed to mislead Adolf Hitler. Its brilliance lay in exploiting the enemy's expectations, successfully diverting crucial German defenses away from the actual D-Day landing sites in Normandy to a feigned assault on Calais. The narrative compellingly showcases how strategic misinformation and clever artifice played a pivotal role in the Allied victory, offering a fascinating glimpse into the unseen battles of World War II.
