OPERATION CURVEBALL

Cinemavixion Review

Johannes Naber's 'Operation Curveball' (2020) plunges into the shadowy realm of post-9/11 geopolitics, unearthing a chillingly absurd true story that questions the very foundations of international conflict. The film masterfully reconstructs how a web of misinformation, allegedly fueled by faulty intelligence and the complicity of the German government and its secret service, became a purported catalyst for the Iraq War. Sebastian Blomberg anchors the narrative with a compelling performance, navigating the labyrinthine deceptions. While the film received a respectable 71% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 6.9/10 on IMDb, its true power lies in its unsettling portrayal of how easily truth can be manipulated on the global stage. 'Operation Curveball' is a stark reminder of the grotesque, at times surreal, consequences of compromised intelligence, urging viewers to scrutinize the narratives that shape our world.
