ONE UNDER THE SUN

Cinemavixion Review

In "One Under the Sun," filmmakers Riyaana Hartley and Vincent Tran deliver a compelling science fiction narrative anchored by a strong central performance. The film follows astronaut Kathryn Voss, portrayed with a palpable mix of resilience and desperation, as she returns from a perilous space mission as the sole survivor. Her homecoming is fraught with personal urgency, driven by the need to reconnect with her terminally ill daughter. However, Voss harbors an extraordinary secret – an otherworldly gift acquired in space that holds the potential to save her child, but also makes her a target of government scrutiny. The plot skillfully blends elements of survival, sacrifice, and the ethical quandaries that arise from extraordinary abilities. As Voss becomes a fugitive, the film transforms into a tense chase, exploring her fight for freedom and her maternal instincts against a formidable authority. While the film has garnered a modest reception, its exploration of profound themes and its suspenseful execution make it a noteworthy entry in the sci-fi thriller genre, offering a thought-provoking cinematic experience.
