ONE DAY MUDLARKING BY THE RIVER THAMES AND HERE'S WHAT WE FOUND

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a fascinating glimpse into the hidden history lying beneath the surface of the River Thames. Dan Snow teams up with mudlarking expert Lara Maiklem, whose intimate knowledge of the riverbed brings the past to life. Their finds—ranging from remnants of the Great Fire of London to a 17th-century German stoneware jug and a rare coin of George II—serve as tangible links to centuries of London's existence. The program excels at transforming mundane mudlarking into an archaeological adventure, highlighting how everyday objects can tell extraordinary stories about human life, trade, and disaster throughout history. It’s a compelling invitation to look closer at the world around us and appreciate the layers of history beneath our feet.
